Internships

PhD Students.
Occasionally, I may be able to offer visiting positions to external PhD students, who wish to spend some part of their PhD working with me and my group. This can often be a great way to gain a new perspective and form important collaborations. Candidates must already demonstrate significant experience in robotics, computer vision, and/or machine learning, and will typically only be considered if they have already published a first-authored paper in a top conference (e.g. ICRA, IROS, CoRL, RSS, ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).  Funding for living expenses would need to be provided by the student or their home institution. To apply, please contact me at e.johns@imperial.ac.uk with your CV and a summary of your research interests. So that I know you have read this webpage, please use "InternApp Xyz Xyz" for the email's subject line, where "Xyz Xyz" is your name.

Masters Students.
I do not usually offer visiting positions to external Masters students. However, under special circumstances this may sometimes be possible, such as if: (i) you have independent research experience in robotics and/or computer vision, beyond just the content of your degree, or (ii) you have exceptional grades. Funding for living expenses would need to be provided by the student or their home institution. To apply, please contact me at e.johns@imperial.ac.uk with your CV, your degree transcripts, and a summary of your research experience and interests. So that I know you have read this webpage, please use "InternApp Xyz Xyz" for the email's subject line, where "Xyz Xyz" is your name.

Undergraduate Students.
If you have outstanding grades during your undergraduate studies, then there may be opportunities for summer internships in my lab, such as with the UROP scheme.

Please only write to me once.
Please note that I receive a very large number of requests for the above internships in my lab. I will read them all, but I will not be able to provide detailed feedback for everyone. However, if I think that you are a suitable candidate, then I will be sure to respond to you for further discussions.
