Internships

PhD Students

Occasionally, I may be able to offer visiting positions to external PhD students who wish to spend up to a year working with me and my group, which can often be a great way to gain some new perspectives. This will be available to students who can already demonstrate significant experience in robotics and/or computer vision, and candidates will typically only be considered if they have already published a first-authored paper in a top conference (e.g. ICRA, IROS, CoRL, RSS, ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).  Funding for living expenses would need to be provided by the student or their home institution. To apply, please contact me at e.johns@imperial.ac.uk with your CV, degree transcripts, and a summary of your research interests. So that I know you have read this webpage, please use "InternApp2020 Xyz Xyz" for the email's subject line, where "Xyz Xyz" is your name.

Masters Students

I do occasionally offer visiting positions to external Masters students, who wish to do their thesis work in my lab. However, this is typically only under special circumstances, such as: (i) where the student can already demonstrate research experience in robotics and/or computer vision (beyond just the content of your degree), (ii) where the student has exceptional grades, or (iii) where the student is planning to apply for a PhD position at Imperial College. If you think that you fit one of these criteria, please contact me at e.johns@imperial.ac.uk with your CV, degree transcripts, and a summary of your research interests. Undergraduate Students

I do not offer any internships, or UROPs, to undergraduate students, and I'm sorry but I cannot always reply to these requests.
